Power supply of Nd-glass laser was constructed and its performance was investigated by observing the operation of flashlamp, conventional mode, and passive Q-switching by BDN dye sheet of laser.
Using the passively Q-switched Nd-glass laser output as a fundamental beam, second harmonic beam was generated in type I $KH_2PO_4(KDP)$ crystal prepared by solution growing method and third harmonic generation was achieved by sum-frequency generation in type II KDP crystal. Energy conversion efficiency of harmonic generation was measured to be 6% and 1% for second and third harmonic generations, respectively.
Second and third harmonic beams were generated with pulse widths of 85 ns and 60 ns, respectively, for laser output with pulse width of 100 ns, so it was confirmed that narrowing of temporal pulse width takes place in harmonic conversion process.
Optical parametric oscillator using the second harmonic beam as a pump source was designed and constructed.
