In this paper an improved linear least square error minimization method is introduced, where a modified error is defined to approximate true error more closely and makes the objective function be quadratic.
Through the simulation study of a 5 degrees of freedom damped system and the experimental analysis of a lathe, a new modal parameter estimation technique based on the above method is shown to be efficient compared with other methods.
The results show that the proposed method is powerful enough to apply to not only the real but also the complex modal analysis by a small size computer with sufficient accuracy.
