In order to provide the fast breeder reactor with safety, it is needed to analyze reaction phenomena between sodium and steam which occur in the steam leakage accident in the steam generator.
The jet structure is analyzed in this thesis in case steam is injected into the liquid sodium and reaction takes place in between. For analysis of the jet structure entrainment model is used to describe the reaction of sodium injected in the gaseous mixture of steam and hydrogen in the form of droplet while PSI-CELL (Particle Source In Cell) model is used to deal with liquid phase as a source of the gaseous phase.
The calculated result describes distributions of velocity, temperature and reaction products well physically in general trends even though agreement between predicted results and experimental data is questionable due to the scarcity of the empirical data. It is noted to have further study on the development of empirical correlations about turbulent mixing and about droplet diameter in the gas jet in that those correlations are considered to have significant influence on the variation of the predicted results.
