A model is formulated for the economical allocation of inspection effort in a serial production system where rejected items may be reworked, repaired, or scrapped at any production-inspection stage. After it is shown that either 100% or no inspection is optimal at each inspection opportunity, the model is restated as a mixed 0-1 linear program which may be solved by standard packages. Examples are used to show that the optimal solution is a function of whether the system's input or output is constrained, and test problems are solved to assess the computational tractability of the proposed formulation.
검사에서 불합격한 제품을 재가공 혹은 수리를 할 수 있는 직렬 생산공정에서의 최적 검사장소 선정을 위한 모델을 제시하고 이때 각 생산공정단계에서 0 혹은 100%의 검사를 하는 것이 최적해임을 보이고 나서 일반 컴퓨터 코드로 쉽게 다룰 수 있는 0-1 선형모델을 제시한다.
그리고 이 모델이 컴퓨터로 얼마나 다루기 쉬운지를 알아 보기 위해서 몇몇 예를 보였다.
