A protocol test facility is investigated in this thesis. It can be used for construction of protocol testing components in various protocol test environments. Especially, the test scenario and its processor are designed and implemented.
Protocol testing environments can be divided into local, distributed, remote testing methods respectively. In this thesis, remote and distributed testing methods are considered when testing tool generates the test components. Also, the encoder/decoder approach is adapted to pursue the protocol-independent testing. For the demonstration of efficiency of this facility, the encoder/decoder and the lower layer service of a target layer are implemented and evaluated. The arbituary packet form is designed for communications between the test driver and the encoder/decoder.
