This thesis presents an automated tool for managing various data produced in the software requirements phase. This Data Dictionary Manager(DDM) is designed to be used when Structured Analysis is applied to specify software requirements.
DDM includes functions for structuring data and checking the consistency of the requirements, and producing analysis reports. DDM provides a convenient user interface via a menu and screen editing features to allow smooth transition between tools of Structured Analysis. A relational DBMS, ORACLE is used to maintain data definitions efficiently. DDM has been implemented on VAX 11/780 operating under VMS V.4.2 and consists of approximately 5,000 C language statements.
