UV-Preionized TEA-$CO_2$ laser is made, of which the peak power of the output pulse is 285±12 kW and the best condition of discharge is obtained at the gas mixture ratio of $CO_2:N_2:He=1:1:3$ for the operating voltage of 17.5 ∼ 18 KW.
The experiment of tail reduction, to determine the profile of the output pulse which is applicable to LASER RANGE FINDER, is performed by reducing the mixture ratio of $N_2$.
The effect of the fast transition of ($01^10$) level to ground state on the tail power is studied by rasing the temperature of the gas in the resonator of the laser.
