A parametric study about the recirculated flow field in a two-dimensional channel with an obstacle is described. An existing computer code, "CHAMPION", is used to examine the flow characteristics of the recirculated flow region for various length-to-height ratios of the obstacle in the channel. The basic numerical scheme is a upwind-scheme and the closure model for turbulent flow is a - model.
The results are compared with some results of other investigators. It is found that the length of the recirculated flow is insensitive to the blockage ratios of less than twenty percent. It is also observed that the initial thickness of the boundary layer does not affect the length of region as long as the boundary layer thickness at the front end of the obstacle is less than seventy percent of the obstacle height.
