The object of this study is to investigate wheel/rail wear-lateral force relations and to find new wheel/rail wear prediction method.
The schematic experiments are carried out to know the lateral force change due to the wheel/rail head profile change on the laboratory experimental equipment (Roller Rig).3 wheels with different profile and 2 Rollers with different rail head profile (NEW, worn) are used for this experiment.
Lateral forces are measured using strain goges applied to a wheel plat to generate signals proportional to the lateral component of net wheel loading.
Results are summarized as wheel/rail contact position and lateral force at wheelset center position.
