The main purpose of this thesis is to identify the influencing factors on the success and failure of venture business in Korea through an in-depth case study.
Investigating a literature review on the venture business itself, venture entrepreneur and venture capital, the outline of research framework is established. Based on this framework several propositions are delineated.
To validate and enlarge these propositions, in-depth case studies for 9 companies invested by K-TAC(korea Technology Advancement Corporation) are carried out. These firms have been specifically supported by the K-TAC since 1974 as having introduced high technology products significantly important and appropriate to the local conditions.
Data were collected through interwiews and questionnaires.
Major findings of the case study are summarized and the most important two results are as follows :
(1) Domestic market demand of the proposed venture is critical to the initial success and failure of venture business.
(2) To grow and develop continually, company's capability for product diversification is indispensable.
In addition, the following factors were found to be very important : Fesibility study, Supports of related outside organization, Public policy, and Venture entrepreneur.
Further extended research would be necessary to validate and concrete these results on statistical basis.
