In this thesis work, experimental Videotex data-base system is designed and realized. The concept of distributed control has been introduced to the design of the data-base system for the efficient utilization of subscribers and data-base access procedure. The data-base system consists of several processors and this thesis describes the data-base processor and its peripheral apparatus in particular.
The main function of the data-base processor is to provide efficient data-base access. To achieve this, the following has been implemented. First, for the requirement of large memory base and fast access, hard disk drive has been used. Second, to further increase the disk access time the cache algorithm is implemented. Finally, for handling 15 subscribers in real time environment, high speed communication link with the subscriber processor is realized.
