A system of 108 particles interacting via Lennard-Jones potential and obeying classical equation of motion has been studied by a computer (IBM 370 series) molecular dynamics to simulate non-equilibrium shear flow in liquid Argon at T=0.722 and ρ=0.8442.
The calculation of flow birefringence was performed for the various cases of shear rates at $\dot{ε}_{xz}$ = 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 5.0 and the results are compared with theoritical values calculated on the basis of the distorted radial distribution function.
