The vortex characteristics behind an airfoil at low Reynolds number were investigated to comprehend large scale structures in the wake. Mean velocity profiles, turbulent intensity profiles, vortex shedding frequency, vortex convection velocity and transverse cross correlation were measured.
The wake flow patterns were visualized at variable velocities by smoke wire technique.
