The study is concerned with the computer aided design of progressive dies and strip layouts. The ever-increasing use of progressive dies in the sheet metal industry demands an effective design method for sheet metal operations using progressive dies. In this study a computer program is developed for computer aided design of progressive dies and strip layouts. The program is constructed to simulate the progressive die operations.
The use of the program in connection with the simple graphics plotter enables us to save the design efforts by curtailing time-consuming design procedures.
Some product examples for progressive working are chosen to show the effectivness of the developed computer program. It is shown that the program can be conveniently utilized to full advantage by simulating the design procedure with a low-cost commercial micro-computer.
