The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between characteristics of chief executive officer and business strategy, technological innovation.
In this context, environmental uncertainty is introduced as a contingency variable.
The characteristics of CEO considered in the study are philosophy of management, tolerance of ambiguity, and whether or not CEO is a entrepreneur.
Miles & Snow's typology is used as business strategy and the degree of technological innovation is considered rather than its process.

The data required in this study were collected by means of interview and questionaire from 30 manufacturing firms in the electronic industry. Hypothesis tests and post-hoc analyses were conducted. Using multiple discriminant analysis, mann-whitney u-test, pearson correlation, and analysis of variance.
The result of the hypothesis test was that five of nine hypotheses were confirmed at 5% level of significance and the rest were not.
The major conclusion is that philosophy of management of CEO has significant impact on business strategy and technological innovation.
But this study is still in an exploratory stage and has many weaknesses from the view of theory building and research methodology.
Therefore, in order to reduce these weaknesses, six directions of future research are suggested.
