In this thesis, methods of the cable tension adjustment for a cable-stayed bridge are presented and wind effects on the structure are analyzed. As an example, Dolsan Bridge, which is being constructed at Yeo-su, Jeon Nam, is investigated.
At first, static analysis was performed using SAPIV program. Then cable tension adjustment methods were studied using optimization technique. The problem was formulated as a quadratic programming problem and solved by a modified simplex method. Finally, dynamic analysis for random wind forces was carried out. The effects of steady wind, self-excited and buffeting forces were studied. Analyses were performed for 3 different hourly mean wind velocities. Additionally, aerodynamic stability was also investigated.
