In this thesis, the link layer protocol for a microcomputer network is designed and implemented. The network consists of one master microcomputer, 16 slave computers, and a terminal port of VAX 11/780 connected to the network controller. The peripheral devices are used for data file printing, storaging, and mailing.
After a general discussion on the structure of network system, the link control procedures are discussed in detail. The implemented link control is a simplified SDLC type to be matched for the CP/NET requirement. The link control includes data transparency, connection and disconnection, error recovery, etc.
Experimental results and performances are discussed also.
