Coplanar waveguide is a versatile planar transmission line to connect active and passive circuit elements, in parallel as well as in series connection.
In order to use this coplanar waveguide in the microwave integrated circuit system, control of various discontinuties is essential. A coaxial to coplanar waveguide transition is built and its reflection coefficient is measured to be less than 0.09.
Using this transition, the discontinuities of the coplanar waveguide such as open end, series gap and interleaved finger are measured and their equivalent circuit parameters are calculated from measured values.
