Polymers were prepared from copolymerization of α-methacryloyl-L-lysine and methacrylic acid. And methylenebisacrylamide was used as crosslinking agent.
Thus obtained polymers were found to be effective for direct resolution of racemic basic amino acids, lysine and arginine.
In the chromatographic resolution, a column having dimension of 2Ⅹ15 cm was used and 0.2 Mol NaCl solution was used as eluent. Used polymer was about 3.4g, and sample sizes were 20 mg and 1 mg. And detection was carried out by Ninhydrin method.
With this system, patial resolution of racemic amino acids were observed. The separation factor of the obtained chromatograms were about 1.25.
Above phenomena may be explained that the polymers exert the stereoselective three ionic interactions among α-amino group and carboxyl group of L-lysine and carboxyl group of methacrylic acid.
