This investigation was carried out to study the dynamic properties of pulse-dsieve plate extraction column by determining the axial dispersion coefficients of the continuous phase and dispersed phase holdup.
In order to do this, a plate column which is consists of main body (pyrex glass; I.D = 46 mm) and stainless sampling port (5 points), and two phase disengaging section (top; I.D = 85 mm, L = 350 mm, bottom; I.D = 46 mm, L = 200 mm), effective height is 224 cm, plate spacing is unequal (25mm/25mm/150mm/25mm ---) and its plate free area is 23% was installed.
The Peclet numbers of aqueous phase in $H_2$O-n-Dodane system were determined by the moment matching method from the residence time distribution curves using one point measuring technique.
The correlation of axial dispersion coefficient of a continuous phase for single phase, two phase and dispersed phase holdup, was expressed as follow,
