Recently in Korea, there has been a growing interest in the economic aspects of health and medical services.
The objective of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the utilization of health care facilities and personnel in rural areas of Korea. It is hoped that the results of the study offer some new insights into how health services may be utilized more effectively in rural Korea.

The data has been collected in the four Myons of Gangweon and Gyunggi provinces. About 300 households have been drawn by random sampling in each Myon. Thus, a total of 1216 households have been analyzed by using frequency distribution, crosstabulation and multiple regression techniques.
The major findings are as follows:
The attendance at mother's club meetings, the activities of health workers and the coverage of health insurance affect the utilization of health services most significantly. The accessability to medical facilities and the overall recognition by the residents of the importance of health and hygiene have significant effects on the degree of the utilization of health care. However, the difference in health worker programs in operation in each Myon appears to have no significant effect on it.
