An open loop NC system has been developed to perform three-dimensional cutting operation for a conventional milling machine.
The NC system basically consists of a vertical milling machine, three PM-type stepping motors and driver units, and a SDK-85 single-board-computer kit. The knee is supported by a pair of compressed air cylinders to prevent the motor overload in the vertical direction during operation and to enable smooth knee movement.
The three-dimensional NC operations are proved to be successful when each backlash is measured carefully and implemented in the NC softwares.

기존 밀링머시인을 이용해서 3차원 절삭을 수행할 수 있는 NC 시스템을 개발했다.
NC 시스템은 범용 수직밀링머시인, 영구자석형 스텝모우터, SDK-85 single-board-computer kit로 구성되어 있으며, 수직축에는 테이블 하중을 지지하도록 두 개의 압축공기실린더를 설치했다.
그 결과 원활한 세 방향 구동이 가능했으며, 백래시를 고려한 3차원 NC작업을 수행할 수 있었다.
