In this thesis a local network is proposed which links computer resources within a restricted area.
LABNET (Laboratory Network) is designed to combine heterogeneous computers which are the VAX 11/780 as a host computer and other small computers such as CROMEMCO's Z-2D system-3 and DGC's NOVA 1200 as tributaries.
All functions of LABNET are designed independent of the type of tributaries. Hence the system can be easily expended to communicate with other tributaries. LABNET is experimented only with Z-2D as an available tributary.
