Coal pretreatment and gasification were studied in a 3 inch diameter fluidized bed at atmospheric pressure.
It was seen that gasification reactions were successfully carried out in the temperature range of 830-860℃.
In the ranges of operating conditions, the optimum conditions to obtain the best quality of product gases were as follows:
Temperature; 960℃, Char feed rate ; 27.2 gr/㎠ hr,
and superficial fluidizing gas velocity ; 15.3 ㎤/㎠ sec.
The analysis of product gases showed that the mole ratio of hydrogen to carbon monoxide and that of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide were increased with reactor temperature.
In order to maintain the steady operating temperature, the changes of steam flow rate was preferable to that of air flow rate.
