In contrast with characters generated in a character mode with a fixed dot matrix pattern for each character the Korean character graphics being studied uses a representation of piecewise analytic functions such that, for each character, the form, the size, the line width, the slant etc. can be varied at will.
For this purpose a Korean character is subdivided into N disjoint subregions according to its features. A previous study dealt with N=3 case. In the present study N=2 case has been investigated with the following results: compared with N=3 case average 45% gain in processing speed, 30% reduction in auxiliary storage(disk), but 12 times larger main memory requirement for the data base.
Other advantage is the more natural form of characters essentially due to the intrinsic increase in the variety of shapes that are allowed in the N=2 case.
Plot-package 를 이용한 한글 graphics 는 보통의 Character mode 로 generate 되는 한글이 모양이나 크기가 고정되어 있는데 비해서 크기와 모양 획의 굵기 또는 기울어진 정도등을 program으로 쉽게 변화시킬 수 있어서 보다 넓은 이용이 가능하다.
plot-package 에 한글을 implementation 함에 있어서 본 논문에서는 분할수를 2로 채택했는데 이로써 기본문자수가 431개로 늘어났지만 분할수 3에 비하여 약 40~50%의 속도 증가를 가져왔고 data file 의 크기를 약 $\frac{2}{3}$ 로 줄일 수 있었다. 이러한 속도의 증가는 분할수를 줄임으로써 근본적으로 one Character 에 대한 processing 의 횟수가 줄었고 이러한 방법으로 얻어진 data file 의 크기가 작아져서 PASS2 의 execution time 에 포함된 file processing time 이 줄어든데 원인이 있다. 또한 분할수가 2일 경우 one Character 를 크게 둘로 나누어 그것의 pattem 을 design 할 수 있으므로 보다 자연스러운 글자모양을 얻을 수 있었다.
