Hangul is a outstanding creature of the Korean to represent the Korean language, but it has a special characteristics that one character is consituted as a group of some Hangul atoms, which makes it difficult to computerize the Hangul and to out-put Hangul characters as a well-shaped ones.
In this thesis, it is suggested that it can be a method to cope with above situation that each Hangul character is represented in a character level not in an atom level. And the development of Hangul text editor which manipulate Hangul characters in a character level is described as a preliminary step to implement a Hangul wordprocessing system in the NEC S-100/80. Since Hangul text editor will be a subsystem of a Hangul wordprocessing system, it should be easy modifiable and well structured for the later integration of Hangul wordprocessing system.
Features of Hangul text editor can be categorized into two modes. One is a screen mode and the other is a command mode. Text may be edited directly on the screen by deleting, overstriking or inserting characters. There also exist commands to manipulate and search sections of text.
