In this study, I reviewed the possibility of utilizing the audience participation in interactive art through HCI methodology. During the research, the participation attributes and patterns of audience participating in interactive art were analyzed based on the affordance theory and the user action stage model. Then, an audience evaluation methodology that can be applied on interactive art was presented by utilizing the HCI user evaluation methodology. Unlike in the existing usability evaluations where a uniform standard was proposed to the audience, the usability of the audience was divided into levels and, based on these levels, it was possible to identify how the audience moved and what conditions are required to cause the active movement. These factors provided guidelines on which elements should be provided at the potential users to achieve the most active interactions. Following this, it will be possible to induce more active interactions and continued audience participation based on applying the relevant guidelines on the actual implementation and evaluation of interactive art in the future.
본 연구에서는 HCI방법론을 활용한 인터랙티브 아트의 관객 참여 구축에 대한 활용 가능성을 살펴 보고자 하였다. 그 과정으로 어포던스 개념과 사용자 행동 단계 모델을 기반으로 인터랙티브 아트에 참여하는 관객들의 참여 속성과 참여 유형을 분석하였으며, HCI 사용자 평가 방법론을 활용하여 인터랙티브 아트에 적용이 가능한 관객 평가 방법론을 제시하였다. 관객들을 대상으로 일괄적인 기준을 제안하였던 기존의 사용성 평가들과는 달리 본고에서는 관객들의 사용성 정도에 따라 그 레벨을 나눌 수 있었으며, 해당 레벨을 기반으로 관객들이 어떻게 이동을 하는지 그리고 어떠한 조건이 갖추어져야 이동이 진행되는지에 대하여 알아볼 수 있었다. 특히 가장 다수의 그룹인 잠재적 참여자에 초점을 맞추어 어떠한 요소를 제공해야 활발한 상호작용성이 확보되는지에 대한 가이드라인 제공을 하였다. 이에 향후 인터랙티브 아트의 실제적인 제작, 평가에 해당 가이드라인을 기반으로 하여 보다 활발한 상호작용성, 지속적 관객 참여를 유도할 수 있을 것이다.
