The contemporary art museum is trying to keep up with visitors increasing in their numbers and needs with time. In that sense, visitor studies in art museum have become one of the trend, and also, studies about artwork interpretative information utilizing the digital technology have increased steadily. However, these studies fall short of the information about what visitors want to know when appreciating contemporary artworks. Therefore, this thesis conducted study about visitors' acceptance of interpretative information in the art museum environment, for the purpose of effective delivery of information in art museums. In the case of method sending interpretative information, this study chose text form used universally, and the four main genres among the contemporary art according to the taxonomy of internal and external famous art museums and the literature reviews.
First of all, samples of expository writings of the Museum of Modern Art in Korea were collected. These samples are analyzed through the Focused Group Interview with museum professionals. Through this analysis, we found 22 elements consisting artwork descriptive information. After the FGI, this study tried to seek the elements what visitors are interested in by an eye-tracking test and a depth interview. In this experiment, visitor’s interest or non-interest information according to the genre of artworks were discovered. This study draws a conclusion that the visitors' needed elements of interpretative information differ from genres of artworks. This research can be suggested as a reference to provide appropriate information to the visitors, and is expected to be developed by considering various visitor types in the further works.
동시대 미술관은 시대를 거듭할수록 늘어나는 관람객과 그들의 니즈에 발맞춰 나가기 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 그러한 일환으로 미술관 관람객 조사 연구는 하나의 트렌드가 되었으며, 관람객에게 효과적으로 전시 정보를 전달하고자 하는 노력들이 이루어지고 있다. 이와 관련된 선행연구들을 살펴본 바, 관람객들이 현대예술작품을 감상함에 있어서 어떠한 설명 정보에 관심을 갖고 바라보는지에 대한 연구는 미흡하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 상황에서 관람객에게 미술관에서 작품 설명을 통해 보다 효과적으로 전달할 수 있도록 관람객을 대상으로 한 정보 수용 연구를 수행하였다. 작품을 설명하는 방식 중 가장 보편적으로 사용되고 있는 텍스트 형태의 작품설명문을 선택하였으며, 현대예술은 국내외 유명 미술관과 문헌조사를 바탕으로 하여 대표 장르 4가지를 선정하였다.
이를 위해서 먼저 국내의 대표적인 현대예술 전시공간인 국립현대미술관의 작품설명문을 수집하였고, 이를 미술관 종사자들을 대상으로 한 FGI를 통해 분석하였다. 분석 결과 총 22가지의 정보 요소를 발견할 수 있었으며, 이 추출된 요소들을 기반으로 관람객들이 어느 요소에 주목하는지를 아이트래킹 실험과 심층 인터뷰를 통해 밝히고자 하였다. 이 실험을 통해서 관람객들은 장르 별로 주목하는 요소가 다르며, 또한 주목하지 않는 요소들이 존재함을 발견하였다. 즉, 특정 장르의 예술작품의 경우에는 어떤 정보 요소를 중점적으로 설명할 필요가 있다는 결론을 도출하였다. 이러한 연구는 관람객에게 알맞은 정보를 제공해줄 수 있는 하나의 기준점이 될 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 향후 관람객의 세부 유형과 보다 폭넓은 현대예술을 고려하는 연구를 통해 보완 및 발전할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
