Analyzing research activities over time can give insight into the research trend and knowledge structure of a domain. Research publication activity of a topic can be measured by network of keywords and their relations in the specific area. The paper creates and analyzes medical topic networks to figure out how clusters and keywords change over time. Keywords are extracted from 9,730,671 research publications of twenty medical topics were analyzed. Experiments show there is cannibalism which occurs when one cluster is consumed into other clusters of medical topic networks in 50% of the medical topics analyzed. Decreasing of modularity values of cannibalism topics shows that research topics collaborate actively and multidisciplinary fields have emerged over time.
시간에 따른 연구 활동을 분석하는 것은 연구 트렌드와 해당 분야의 지식 구조에 대한 정보를 제공한다. 한 주제에 대한 연구 출판 활동 (research publication activity)은 해당 주제를 대표하는 키워드들과 그들 사이의 관계로 이루어진 네트워크로 측정될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 의학분야에서 클러스터들과 키워드들이 시간에 따라 어떻게 변화하는지 파악하기 위하여 의학 주제 네트워크들을 만들고 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 20 가지의 의학 주제에 대한 총 9,730,671 개의 출판된 논문들에서부터 키워드들이 추출되었다. 분석된 50%의 의학 주제에서 한 클러스터가 다른 클러스터들에게 흡수되는 카니발리즘 (cannibalism)이 관찰되었다. 카니발리즘이 나타난 주제들에서 모듈성 (modularity)이 감소했는데 이는 시간에 따라 연구 주제들 사이에서와 여러 학문 분야에 걸친 협업이 활발하게 이루어지고 있음을 보여준다.
