Recently, due to the dramatic advances in semiconductor technology, most analog switching systems are being replaced by the digital switching systems.
This thesis deals with the design and implementation of the speech path connection for a Stored-Program-Controlled experimental PCM PBX system. The speech path is organized in a Time-Space-Time switching network with four time-multiplexed subscriber groups and a 16×4 space-switching matrix. The interconnection between any two subscribers is made by the speech path control hardwares and speech path assign & control softwares.
An experimental result shows that the blocking probability of the switching network is significantly reduced by a simple time-slot rearrange method under the strong traffic conditions.
