The computer numerical control(CNC) system has many advantages compared to the conventional numerical control system. It has more flexibility by using softwares rather than hardwares, and it can perform more complicated jobs. Also, diagnostic programs for maintenance purpose can be stored in memory which facilitates the maintenance.
In this dissertation, the CNC system retrofitting a conventional lathe is designed and constructed. Using hydraulic system as actuator, a closed-loop control system is constructed. For the purpose of controlling this system, minicomputer PDP-8/E is used and some suitable softwares are developed, which enable the on-line control of the machine-tool.
통상의 수치제어 씨스템에 비하여 컴퓨터 수치 제어 씨스템은 여러가지 장점을 지니고 있다. 즉 하드웨어를 대신하여 쏘프트웨어를 사용함으로써 더욱 융통성을 지닐 수 있으며, 보다 더 복잡한 작업도 수행함이 가능하다. 또한 씨스템의 관리 및 점검을 위한 프로그램 역시 이 컴퓨터 자신이 처리할 수 있으므로 사후관리가 용이해진다.
본 논문에서는 범용 선반을 개조하여 컴퓨터 수치 제어 씨스템을 완성하였다. 구동 장치로는 유압 씨스템을 사용하여 폐회로 제어 씨스템을 구성하였으며 이 씨스템 제어를 위해 미니 컴퓨터 PDP-8/E 에 적합한 프로그램들을 개발하였다. 그 결과 공작기계의 온 라인 제어 씨스템이 가능하게 되었다.
