The development for automatic control of machine tool using CNC(Computer Numerical Control)system which has several advantages in comparison with the conventional NC system of attempted.
The CNC system designed is an open loop control system with pulse moter. The central logic controller is a mini-computer (PDP-81E, 12K). Operator's control panel and the interfaces are designed and the conventional milling machine is chosen for this study. Softwares are also developed partially for two dimensional machining.
In the present study, a conventional milling machine is retrofitted successfully to function as a CNC system. The result of a sample machining is satisfactory. However it is too early to use the CNC milling machine in production line due to insufficient development of CNC programming language. Therefore, it is suggested to continue the effort of developing CNC programming method.
Conventional NC system에 비하여 여러가지 장점을 갖는 CNC system을 이용한 공작기계의 자동화가 바람직하다.
본 연구에서 설계한 CNC system은 pluse motor로 구동하는 open loop system이며 mini-computer (PDP-8/E,12K) 가 logic controller역활을 한다. Operator's control panel 및 interface를 설계 제작하고 기존 milling machine을 연결하여 system을 구성한다. 또한 가공을 위한 programming 언어를 부분적으로(2차원) 개발하였다.
완성된 CNC milling machine은 2차원 시험가공 결과 만족스러웠다. 그러나 programming 언어가 완전치 못하므로 현장에의 활용은 아직 이르다. 따라서 CNC programming 언어 즉 software의 개발이 요구된다.
