In the first part of this thesis, the effect of grain price changes on domestic grain demand-supply are analyzed in terms of price elasticity of production due to changes in unit area grain harvest level and in grain farming area.
The systems of simultaneous equations consisting of grain consumption of farmer themselves, grain sales by farmer, urban grain demand, and the concept of market equilibrium are analyzed. The effects of grain price changes on the following variables of national economy, such as international trade balance, domestic price levels, farmers' income, government compensation, urban consumer price indexes, grain productivity, as well as on those non-economic variables of significance including national defense, and social welfare are also analyzed.
In the latter part, the present world grain demand-supply is surveyed with special reference to wheat, rice, and some feedstock grains.
이 논문의 전반부는 곡가의 변동이 국내 양곡수급에 미치는 효과를 단위 면적당 수확고의 변화와 식부면적의 변화에 따른 생산의 가격탄력성의 검토를 통하여 분석한 것이다.
농가 자신의 양곡소비, 농가 양곡판매, 도시 양곡수요와 시장균형에 입각한 연립방정식 체계가 분석되었다.
곡가 변동이 국제수지, 국내물가수준, 농가소득, 정부 양특계정적자, 도시소비자 물가지수, 양곡의 생산성등으로 표시되는 국민경제의 목표변수와 국가안보, 사회복지를 포함하는 경제외적 의미변수에 미치는 효과가 아울러 검토되었다.
이 논문의 후반부는 해외 양곡수급현황을 소맥, 미곡, 사료곡물로 구분하여 국제기구의 보고를 중심으로 하여 소개한 것이다.
부록에서는 한국농업인구를 1971년에서 1985년까지 추정하였다.
