Conical intersection where degeneracy between different electronic states occurs is widely accepted as an effective nonadiabatic funnels leading ubiquitous photoisomerization, non-radiative relaxation, and photocatalysis in chemistry and biology. Since nonadiabatic coupling between the nuclear and inherent electronic motion breaks down the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, the reaction dynamics of conical intersection on multi-dimensional potential energy surface is hardly predicted. However, interestingly, the dynamic passage of the reactive flux through the conical intersection is sensitively determined by the initially prepared nuclear configuration in terms of the proximity to the conical intersection. For the control of nonadiabatic chemical reaction, vibrationally excited molecules play a central role to give a qualitative description of a detailed nuclear configuration through which the conical intersection seam could be accessed. In this work, a notable example is given to demonstrate the prototypical features of how a molecular system passes through a multidimensional conical intersection.
