Are we living in the safety-matured society? This study was conducted to answer the fundamental ques-tion by analyzing social safety culture about accident and safety projected in news articles using text mining from the human error point of view. Based on the extracted two sets of news articles, major twelve and general accidents from 1990 to 2013, the following four analyses were accomplished and social safety culture implica-tions were deducted : (1) Period comparison of public attention on major accidents’ cause and remedy articles through burst detection; (2) Existence of public attention to human errors based on Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS); (3) Proportion changes of remedy keywords on general accidents articles and frequency comparison between the majors and the generals; (4) Tendency of accident causes difference between 1990s and after 2000 by looking at individual and organizational keywords. The findings and method-ologies of this research are expected to make a contribution to recognizing the properties of social safety culture and suggesting methods of diagnosis.
우리는 안전에 성숙한 사회에 살고 있는가? 본 연구는 사고와 안전에 대한 생각이 투영된 신문기사의 텍스트 마이닝을 활용하여 인적오류 관점의 사회 안전문화를 분석함으로써 이러한 근본적인 질문에 답하기 위해 수행되었다. 추출된 12개 대형사고와 1990년부터 2013년까지의 모든 일반사고의 신문기사를 대상으로하여 다음의 4가지 분석이 진행되었고 사회 안전문화 시사점이 도출되었다. (1) 버스트 분석을 통한 대형 사고의 원인과 대책 기사의 기간 비교, (2) Human Factors Analysis and Classification System에 기반한 인적오류의 사회 주의력 존재 유무, (3) 일반사고 기사의 대응 키워드 비율 변화 및 대형, 일반사고 사이의 빈도 비교, (4) 1990년대와 2000년 이후 개인적, 조직적 원인 키워드의 경향 비교가 그것이다. 본 연구의 발견점과 방법론은 사회 안전 문화의 특징을 확인하고 이를 진단하는 방법을 제시한다는 것에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
