When a company founded, the founder of the company usually starts a business with money sourcing from founder himself, colleagues and etc. However these kinds of capital have limits, so the founder needs to raise money from banks, government-supported funds, angel investors, the external capital, such as venture capital. The problem is that many start-up companies raising funds through external capital, relies heavily on bank loans bearing big repayment burden to the companies than the direct financing of such investment.
Crowdfunding becoming a hot topic recently has been drawn attention as a new alternative financing method to connect direct investment of the public to small/medium businesses and expected to be a function as an innovative investment platform.
This paper includes reviews on crowdfunding case analysis, the direction of legal/institutional introduction, existing research related to and activation of investment. And also it examines in the current situation and cases of crowdfunding and the analysis of the performance of domestic crowdfunding platform to derive the success factors of crowdfunding.
It suggests elements of strategic/policies of crowdfunding to be able to function stably in the future, and also it proposes future strategy of “Korean” crowdfunding by deriving the key framework of crowdfunding.
창업 초기에는 창업자 본인과 동료 등의 자금으로 사업을 시작하나, 이렇게 조달한 자본은 한계가 있기 때문에 은행, 정부 지원 자금, 엔젤투자자, 벤처캐피탈 등 외부자본을 찾게 된다. 그러나 창업/벤처기업이 외부자본을 통한 자금 조달을 하는 경우 투자 등의 직접 금융 보다 상환 부담이 큰 은행 대출에 크게 의존하고 있다.
최근 이슈가 되고 있는 크라우드펀딩은 이와 같이 중소기업이 겪고 있는 직접투자의 어려움에 대하여 일반 대중의 소액자금을 투자로 연결시키는 새로운 대체 자금조달 수단으로 주목받고 있으며 혁신적인 투자 플랫폼으로 기능할 것으로 기대되고 있다.
본 논문에서는 크라우드펀딩 사례분석, 법/제도 도입의 방향성, 투자활성화 등에 관련된 기존 연구를 분석하고 한계를 검토하였다. 또한 크라우드펀딩의 현황 및 사례 등에 대해 고찰하였으며, 국내 크라우드펀딩 플랫폼의 성과분석을 통해 크라우드펀딩의 성공 요소를 도출하였다.
크라우드펀딩이 미래에도 안정적으로 기능할 수 있도록 전략적/정책적 요소를 제안하는 한편, 크라우드펀딩 핵심 요소 프레임워크를 도출함으로써 한국적 크라우드펀딩의 미래전략을 제언하였다.
