The development of high-tech brought about the abundance of material wealth to the industrialized society. It has, also created many human problems, which has not been existed before the industrialization. Some of the most prominent problems of high-tech society are those created by the prolong of life span and the declining of ferility rate.
Social, economic and health consequences of the aging of population have many common features, but they also have markedly different aspects according to the cultural tradition of each nation.
The objective of this study is to conduct a investigation of the causes and consequences of aging of the population in Korea. It is hoped that the knowledge gained about the multi-dimentional problems of the aging of population by investigating its causes and consequences would point the way for non-western althernative approaches and policy strategies in handling the aging problems at societal, community and family levels.
