Maskew's potential-based panel method which is widely used in the analysis of the flow field around the 3-dimensional fixed wing is extended to the analysis of fans / propellers in steady state. Hub effect is naturally included in this method by distributing panles on the hub surface. An efficient approximation of the far wake is achived by replacing it with a sink disk at the begining of the far wake. The thrust and torque coefficients of the propeller are calculated and compared with those of the experiment. Difference of the pressure on the propeller with the hub and without the hub is predicted.
To check the accuracy of the integral methods, the pressure distribution on the sphere surface is calculated to compare with the analytic solution. The wing and the duct problems are calculated here and compared with respectively the existing results by 2-D panel method and high order panel method. The comparision has shown excellent agreement.
