The perceptual/psychomotor and cognitive tasks in a computer-aided aptitude test were studied to predict the success of a trainee in flight training. A pilot's job was tentatively classified into five categoried: tracking, reaction, memory, estimation, and visual scanning. To investigate the performances of a trainee in these category, 16 singletasks and 10 dual-tasks were examined. To select significant tasks for predicting the flight performance, stepwise regression and discriminant analyses were applied. In predicting the flight performance of a trainee, the tasks in a memory dimension. In discriminating pass/fail group, the tasks in a tracking dimension are more significant. The tasks in a reaction dimension are least important of all in predicting the flight performance.
