Smart phones are widely spread with its potential advantages. Manaing chronic disease via smart phone has several befits to both patents and doctors as well. In this context, mobile health care is one of the possibilities to innovate current clinical process for chronic disease.
Media richness is one factor that can affect outcome of communication. In clinical process, doctors and other medical staffs communicate with patient for instrumental or affective purpose. Since there is no clear evidence that media richness is positive or negative to this communication via smartphone, this study analyzes the effect of media richness at first.
With result of the analysis, we develop the mobile application for managing chronic disease. Focusing on the openness, the application is to help both doctors and patients without restriction. To reflect requirements and suggestions from doctors, this study proposes a focus group interview. By this interview, we can decide six items which patient will record on the application. In addition to that, we group 191 chronic diseases to 34 categories. Side effects symptoms and 6,692 drugs are listed as well. For better usability, we also consider the heuristic evaluation from UX experts.
This study might be helpful to patients and doctors, but it also has many limitations considering the opportunities of mobile healthcare. Structured system to find an exceptional situation of patients can be one of the advantages. Further studies are needed for evaluating patient’s records.
다양한 스마트 애플리케이션이 개발되고 있는 가운데, 만성질환자를 대상으로 한 모바일 헬스케어는 여러 이점으로 인해 주목받고 있다. 전 세계의 사망 원인에 60%의 관련이 있는 만성 질환에 대한 모니터링 도구이자 관리 도구로써 모바일 애플리케이션이 주목받고 있는 것이다.
본 연구에서는 만성질환 관리를 위한 모바일 애플리케이션을 개발하는데 있어, 환자와 의료진 간의 의사소통의 기능에 초점을 두고 매체 풍요도에 대한 실증 연구를 진행하였다. 지식/교육적 요인과 정서적 요인이 환자적 성과에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았으며 그러한 의사소통에 있어 스마트폰의 매체 풍요도가 지니는 영향을 조절 요인으로 설정했다.
이와 같은 실증 연구의 결과에 따라서, 만성질환자들 - 특히 갑상선 관련 질환자들을 중심으로 하는 모바일 애플리케이션을 구현하였으며, 이러한 과정에서 포커스그룹 인터뷰와 사용성 평가를 통해 보다 나은 가치를 제공할 수 있는 가능성을 높였다.
본 연구를 토대로 개방형 플랫폼이 점차 만성질환자들 사이에 자리를 잡아 간다면, 수집된 데이터를 분석으로 다양한 패턴에 대한 연구나 또는 다른 지식/정보와 결합해 환자의 상태를 예측하고 관리에 더 큰 가치를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
