This paper examines whether the simple accounting-based fundamental analysis strategy know as F_SCORE has the same power to distinguish high return stocks and low return stocks as it does in U.S. stock market. I show that the group consisting of the high F_SCORE has higher return than the other groups. Thus, I conclude that the F_SCORE has the power as it does in U.S. market. In addition, F_SCORE appears to be robust to controls for alternative investment strategy. This superior performance does not depend on some properties of firms.
Furthermore, I show that the long-short portfolio that buy the strong F_SCORE group consisting of expected winners and sell the weak F_SCORE group consisting of expected losers generates a 1.156 % monthly return. It is the same return as a 13.872 % annual return between 2003 and 2013. Then, I examined whether the performance of the long-short portfolio comes. I focused on a transaction cost. As a result, there is no evidence that the performance of the long-short portfolio using F_SCORE is concentrated in stocks with high transaction costs
