Recently, micro-blogs have increasingly gained attention in monitoring consumer behav-ior. Yet, it is not clear whether postings on micro-blogs can reflect consumers’ real brand atti-tude. The objective of this study is to decipher whether consumer attitude expressed on micro-blog reflects real brand attitude. A computer based sentiment analysis is employed to extract brand attitude from users’ writings. We test our proposition using data collected from 196 Twitter participants. Our findings reveal that users express their inherent brand attitude on micro-blogs. In addition, some probable causes of the discrepancy between expressed brand attitude and intrinsic brand attitude are discussed.
