In computational finance, Monte Carlo simulation can be used to calculate option prices and to compute the sensitivities of option prices with respect to market parameters. These sensitivity measures, known as Greeks, play an important role for hedging and risk management. In particular, computing Greeks is often more challenging than estimating the prices. However, Monte Carlo estimator exhibits poor convergence and unstable Greeks for an option whose payoff function is discontinuous. In this paper, we discuss the simplest way to solve these limitations and propose a Thick-path Monte Carlo estimator that improves the stability of Greeks while minimizing the bias introduced by the smoothness method. The proposed estimator is always applicable to all options with discontinuous payoffs and easy to implement. The numerical results show that our estimators have good performance for practical problems.
