This research is a comparative study of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) adoption in four countries (China, Korea, Pakistan, and Egypt) along with the government practices to promote the adoption of this model. The purpose of this research is to benchmark the government's practices in order to elicit recommendations that can be performed to promote the CMMI initiatives in those countries.
The research found the strengths of the initiatives like in the case of china where the government support is very high and in case of Korea where the research and studies play an important role. Also the weaknesses in the amount of fund, the number of demo sites, and the government procurement policy was apparent in Egypt and Pakistan. The study also showed some areas that need enforcement like the procurement strategy in Korea, the software quality in education in Egypt, and knowledge translation in Pakistan.
