Recently, the scope of context management is being extended from a single domain to multiple domains, as the ubiquitous computing services become more and more sophisticated. A user context is identified not only within a domain where the user physically belongs, but also across multiple domains he or she is associated with. In this thesis, we propose a federated architecture consisting of a global context manager (CM) and several local CMs for federated context managements. Since in multi-domain there will be multiple context sources which provide the same type of contexts, in such federated operations the global context manager has to select a context source when the global context manager aggregates them into global context-finding process. This context source selection problem for a federated context processing is stated, and selection scheme has also been proposed in this thesis. We introduce a formal definition of duplicate context sources, and then propose a context source selection scheme. We also demonstrate how the selection scheme improves the results of context reasoning in federated context management.
상황 정보 관리의 범위가 단일 도메인에서 다중 도메인으로 확장 되면서 여러 도메인에 연관되어있는 상황 또한 고려하게 되었다. 이 논문에서 이런 상호 도메인 상황을 인지 하기 위해서 연합 구조를 제안한다. 연합 구조는 글로벌 상황 관리자와 여러 개의 로컬 상황 관리자로 구성되어 있다. 글로벌 상황 관리자는 각 도메인을 관리하고 있는 로컬 관리자로부터 상황 정보를 가져와 상호 도메인 상황을 인지할 수 있다. 하지만, 다중 도메인에서 같은 유형의 상황 정보를 제공하는 로컬 관리자가 다수 존재할 수 있으므로, 글로벌 관리자는 여러 개의 상황 정보 제공자 중에 가장 적절한 제공자를 선택해야 한다. 만약 어떠한 기준도 없이 임의로 선택하면, 글로벌 관리자의 상황 추론의 결과가 틀릴 수 있고, 그로 인해 사용자가 의도했던 서비스가 제공되지 않거나, 의도하지 않았던 서비스가 잘못 제공 될 수 있다.
이 논문에서는 여러 개의 상황 정보 제공자 중에 적절한 제공자를 선택하는 기법을 제안한다. 우선, 다중 도메인에서 같은 유형의 상황 정보를 제공하는 제공자가 다수 존재할 수 있는 원인을 상황 정보의 개체와 상황 정보의 유형에 따라 분석하고, 개체의 현재 도메인에 기반한 상황 정보 제공자 선택 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 다중 도메인 환경에서 글로벌 상황 관리자의 정확한 상황 추론을 보장한다.
