This thesis deals with opportunistic spectrum access(OSA) with channel fading effect. In OSA, secondary user may not be allowed full-spectrum sensing because of hardware limitation and power consumption problem. In this manner recently the framework of opportunistic spectrum access based on partially observable Markov decision process(POMDP) was proposed. In this paper we consider the channel as physical channel with fading effect which is modeled as one-step Markov process, and propose the opportunistic spectrum access scheme which selects the channel according to the occupancy of the primary user’s as well as the secondary channel condition. Moreover we propose the scheme that defines the secondary user’s channel states by quantization and utilize the quantized channel gain by extremely small amount feedback. And we show that it has better performance by the rate control using the channel feedback.
