To cope with changes of war characteristics, emergence of high-tech combat equipment, training cost increase and risks, and constraints on real training environments, there have been much effort on developing LVC(Live, Virtual, and Constructive) integrated combat modeling & simulation systems that integrate live training, constructive simulation by war gaming models, and virtual simulators of complex weapons, and have interoperability between modeling and simulation systems and reusability of model components. We propose a common system to enhance interoperability between the heterogeneous systems, and an LVC integration framework for army combat modeling & simulation of weapon engineering and engagement levels. We propose a meta-model and a modeling system that has structural, functional, and behavioral views of combat units to improve interoperability between LVC components. We propose a notion of common resource system to effectively support such a modeling system. It is comprised of a standard information repository, an execution information storage, and a middleware. The proposed LVC integrated combat model has a STOW(Synthetic Theater Of War)-dominated architecture that consists of application, technical, and logical structures.
