Recent researches reveal effort to observe user’s experience (what user sees, thinks, and a way he acts) from user’s point of view in order to estimate usability of a web site. Eye-tracking and mouse-tracking to record and analysis what user sees and how user acts can be proper examples. However, although eye-tracking and mouse-tracking are used practically, not only difficult to find the case that uses both, but also the case is rare that considers what user is thinking, which is a step between seeing and acting. Hence, this paper introduced an integrated analysis system for web usability test that tracks eye and mouse, and records user’s thinking.
This paper developed the ‘Integrated Analysis System of Perception, Recognition, and Behavior’ for web usability test that observes user’s experience through eye-tracking, mouse-tracking, and retrospective think aloud and evaluates usability of web based on overall results of observation. For applying EMT system, this paper developed EMT Tool also. EMT Tool helps a researcher by recording the user’s experience during the web usability test, and reproducing it visually. EMT Tool is consist of EMT Tracker which is responsible for observing and collecting user’s experience and EMT Analyzer synthesizing and analyzing data from EMT Tracker.
The availability of EMT System and EMT Tool has been proven by factual experiments. The data of web user’s experience can be analyzed intuitionally and synthetically thorough EMT System and EMT Tool. But EMT Tool has technical problems like a not accurate synchronization of data. It should be revised in the further research.
최근의 연구에서 웹사이트의 사용성을 평가하기 위해서 사용자의 경험(사용자가 보고, 생각하고, 행동하는 바)을 사용자의 입장에서 관찰하고자 하는 노력을 엿볼 수 있다. 사용자가 보고 행동하는 것을 기록하여 분석하기 위해 활용되는 시선추적과 마우스추적이 그 예이다. 그러나 시선추적과 마우스추적이 활용되고는 있지만, 두 데이터를 동시에 활용한 분석사례는 찾아보기 힘들며, 사용자가 생각하는 것(보고 행동하는 중간 단계)에 대한 고려가 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 사용자의 시선과 마우스의 움직임, 생각을 기록하는 웹 사용성 통합 평가 시스템을 제안한다.
웹 사용성 테스트를 위한 \`지각/사고/행동 통합 평가 시스템\`은 시선추적, 마우스추적, 회상적 Think Aloud를 통해 사용자의 경험을 관찰하고, 전체 관찰 결과를 토대로 웹 사용성을 평가한다. 실제 EMT System의 수행을 위해 개발된 EMT Tool은 사용자의 경험을 기록하고 시각적으로 재현해낸다. EMT Tool은 사용자의 경험을 관찰하고 기록하는 EMT Tracker와 관찰결과를 종합하고 분석하는 EMT Analyzer로 구성된다. 평가 시스템 및 도구의 유용성 검증을 위한 실험을 통해 웹 사용자 경험 데이터가 동시적, 종합적으로 분석될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 평가 도구는 정확치 못한 동기화와 같은 기술적 문제를 갖고 있어, 향후 연구에서 해결되어야 할 과제이다.
