In this paper, Knowledge Ecology is proposed as a new paradigm of knowledge management. The main difference of Knowledge Ecology compared with existing knowledge management is, first, the scope of knowledge sharing occurs beyond its organization of boundaries. Second, all the knowledge activities are taking place spontaneously. In this perspective, we chose 'The Global Network of Korean Scientists and Engineers' (KOSEN) as a one of the unique case of Knowledge Ecology. Through an exploratory case study of KOSEN, we discover the critical success factors and the issues to be overcome. And we have proposed a research model extending the research model of Wasco & Faraj(2005) to validate the factors affecting knowledge contribution and utilization empirically.
The result of data analysis demonstrates that 'Centrality' and 'Reciprocity' affect both Knowledge Contribution and Knowledge Utilization. Additionally, 'Enjoy Helping' was found to Knowledge Contribution. On the Knowledge Utilization, 'Perceived Usefulness', 'Tenure in the Field' was found to contribute significantly.
본 논문에서는 지식생태계의 개념을 사용하여 앞으로 지식경영의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하고자 하였다. 지식생태계가 기존 지식경영과 갖는 차별성은 크게 두 가지로 지식공유의 한계가 조직 내부에 속박되지 않는다는 것과 지식공유의 활동들이 구성원의 자발적인 참여에 의하여 이루어진다는 점이다. 이런 관점에서 논문에서는 KOSEN 의 사례를 중심으로 조직의 범위를 넘어선 구성원간의 자발적인 지식공유가 일어나는 요인을 분석해 보조자 하였다. 그래서 관련자료 수집과 함께 3 번의 인터뷰, 1 번의 워크삽 참여를 통하여 KOSEN 에 대한 탐색적 사례연구를 진행하였다. 이를 통해 현재 KOSEN 에 이를 수 있었던 성공 요인과 앞으로 해결해야 할 문제점을 도출해보았다. 또 KOSEN 과 비슷한 조건에서 개인의 지식공유 활동 요인을 증면한 Wasco 와 Faraj(2005)의 논문을 바탕으로 하여 KOSEN 에서의 지식용유 활동(지식기여, 지식활용)에 대한 요인을 실증분석 해 보았다. 실험 결과를 통해 지식기여, 지식활동 두 활동 모두‘ 중심성’,‘ 상호호혜성‘ 이 중요한 요인으로 선정되어, 네트워크에서 회원간의 친분이 지식공유에 큰 요인으로 작용함을 알 수 있었다. 또 이외에도 지식등록 활동에는 ’ 돕는 즐거움‘ 의 요인이, 지식조회 활동에는 ’인지된 유용성‘,’관련분야 경력‘ 이 유의한 요인으로 작용함을 알 수 있었다.
