Black-Scholes model which is one-dimensional diffusion option model is used more than any other option model in practical and academic field. The reason is that it is easy enough to implement and can explain the option market movements with comparable accuracy. But there are several problems which are not explained by Black-Scholes model, such as "Volatility Smile".
In this paper, we study for the movements of the underlying asset and options which are not explained by Black-Scholes model (defined as the movements unexpected by Black-Scholes) like Volatility Smile. For example, call prices go down (up) though KOSPI200 index goes up (down). We find that the movements unexpected by Black-Scholes in KOSPI200 option market happen persistently. So we analyze what causes the movements unexpected by Black-Scholes. The time decay and option market microstructure partially explained them but not perfectly. We conclude that Black-Scholes model perfectly can not explain the option price dynamics in the KOSPI200 option market. Alternatively we use the Heston model and Merton Jump process model to explain the movements unexpected by Black-Scholes. But finally, they can not explain them perfectly, either.
